Our top 4 favorite campgrounds in USA

We absolutely love camping outdoors. I especially love:
  • Being able to stare at the sky and the trees when I open my eyes in the morning;
  • Taking long walks amidst the trees and the chirping of the birds;
  • Cooking outdoors in the open space with your friends;
  • Taking a nap under the trees after lunch enjoying the fresh breeze;
  • Warm campfires at night and the inevitable songs that would follow;
While camping with our friends is always fun, there are some campgrounds that inspire you with their beauty and leave an indelible mark on you. Here are 4 such campgrounds.

1) Hoh Rainforest Campground, Olympic National Park, WA

Location:
It is located in the rain forest next to Hoh river on the western side of the Olympic National Park in the state of Washington.

Campsite:
This campground is the most beautiful campground I ever laid my eyes on. Set in the temperate rain-forest with trees covered by the magical moss, amidst bright beautiful yellow flowers, right next to the Hoh river flowing through the lush green majestic mountains, it felt like heaven on earth.  It is the kind of beauty that touches your soul and moves you. The setting is so peaceful and beautiful that it lets you connect with your inner self in a way that is not easily possible elsewhere. At least it did for me. And I am grateful for that.

Activities:
We went for a jog in the 'Hall of Mosses Trail' in the morning, enjoyed a cup of coffee by the Hoh river watching the fog romance the tree-covered mountain tops, read my favorite book with my feet dipped in the fresh cool waters while enjoying the soothing sound of the glacial river flow in the evenings, watched the sunset as the birds chirped and shared the warm campfire with friends at night.

Best time to visit:
We went there during July and the weather was perfect. The campgrounds are first-come, first-serve and definitely busy during the July long weekend, but we were able to get a great spot on Sunday morning.

2) Jedediah Smith Redwood State Park Campground, CA

Location:
It is located in the dense forest of Redwood State Park in the Northern California area.

Campsite:
Camping among the awe-inspiring Redwood trees is an experience. The campsites are beautifully maintained, with great amenities making you want to come back again and again.

Activities:
We did the Stout Grove Trail, which is a scenic stretch of  giant Redwood trees. You can't help but admire these majestic ancient trees.

Best time to visit:
We went there during August and the weather was good. It wasn't too hot due to the thick canopy of trees even though the campground is at sea level.

3) Rainbow Campground, Big Lake, AZ

Location:
It is located in the Arizona White Mountains, at an elevation of 9,200 ft, next to the Big Lake Recreation Area.

Campsite:
Spacious, private and beautifully appointed among tall pine trees, complete with a wooden bench, fire pit and a water spigot, and not too far from the restrooms, the campsite #80 was perfect for our group of 15 people.

Activities:
We did kayaking in the Big Lake during the day and watched Milky Way at night, while almost freezing.

Best time to visit:
We went there during Memorial Day Weekend as well as during Labor Day Weekend. While it was cool during the day at both times, it was freezing at night during Memorial Day Weekend. Given the elevation, it should be great during summer.

4) Fork Campground, Bass Lake, CA

Location:
It is located in the Sierra National Forest in California overlooking Bass Lake, at an elevation of 3,400 ft, only 30 minutes from Yosemite National Park's south entrance.

Campsite:
Our campsites 27 & 28 had an amazing lake view on one side and a forest view on the other. They are very well maintained (clean flush toilets) and had an attentive host. Each campsite was spacious enough for a single tent but could be a little tight if you want to pitch more than one. Showers were available at Miller's landing resort (along with boat rentals) which was 2 miles away.

Activities:
We did kayaking and jet sking in the Bass Lake during the day and watched the stars at night while singing songs around the campfire.

Best time to visit:

We went there during Memorial Day Weekend and the weather was perfect. The campsites overlooking the lake do not have shade, so it could get hot in summer. But you could always cool down in the lake :)

Happy camping y'all!!
